My Amazon sword's turned yellow after just a week, any advice would be great.

Your Amazon swords were probably grown out of water, which is why they're turning yellow now. They'll need to shed their current leaves to adapt to being fully submerged.

The yellow leaves won't regain their green color, so it's best to trim them off at the base using sharp scissors. I couldn't quite make out from your image, but just to reiterate, the crown of the plant should be exposed. A simple trick is to use a clean turkey baster to gently blow away the substrate and uncover the crown without disturbing the plant. I'd also recommend using root tabs for fertilization, as they can be quite helpful. Your aquarium appears to be relatively new, and I was wondering if you've introduced any fish to the tank yet. This site has a wealth of information on plant care, so you might want to search through the archives for more tips and advice.

Thanks for the advice, my tank's not new but I've just got a new filter and I do have fish in there. I've just added some Seachem flourish tabs, hoping they'll make a difference.

Glad to hear that, your aquarium looks great. The plants just need a bit of time to adjust to their new surroundings.

I'm in agreement with the others on this. Flourish Tabs have been a staple for me, especially with swords - I've used them for over a decade with great results.

Rather than rushing to remove the yellowing leaves, I'd hold off unless the base of the stem at the crown has turned brown, indicating it's dead. If the leaf is still attached to the crown and has a white base, the plant can transfer mobile nutrients to new growth.

New leaf growth, emerging from the centre of the crown, is what I'd be looking out for - it should appear given time.
