Deciding whether to set up my tank: pros and cons

I'm a high school junior living in a Chicago suburb - think 40 minutes from the city. I'm planning to attend college in-state, preferably in Chicago itself, which I think is an amazing city with tons of great fish stores. Right now, I've got around a dozen tanks, but only a couple are properly aquascaped - the rest are for breeding and can be easily torn down. I've been itching to set up a massive tank, like a 75 or 55 gallon, but then I realized I'll be leaving for college in two years, so what's the point? My first tank, a 20 gallon I set up in February, is starting to fall apart - I didn't know what I was doing back then. I'm torn about setting up a big tank before I leave for college. I mean, it doesn't have to be massive, but I do want a main showcase tank, and my 20 gallon just isn't cutting it. It's too small, and I'm eager to upgrade. What do you guys think - should I go for it?

You also gotta consider where you're gonna be living in college - dorm, apartment, house? Are they gonna allow all these tanks and will your roommates be cool with it? I'm kinda in the same situation, planning to set up a 75 before leaving for college in three years, so I'm definitely doing it within the next year. Two years is a pretty long time, so personally I think it's worth setting up a new tank - it's not like you're leaving tomorrow.

I'm actually planning on having my own place in college, so that's not a concern for me. I've been thinking about it some more, and I'm probably just going to rescape my 20 long instead of setting up a whole new tank.
