Fish that thrive in strong currents

Hi kids, I've got a bit of a nitrate issue in my rainbow tank and I'm looking for some non-rooted plants that can help pull nutrients out of the water column. The problem is, this tank's got a lot of current - it's a rainbow/garra tank, after all.
My usual floaters like frogbit, askento4 water grass, and hornwort just get thrashed by the flow. I've been thinking of giving water sprite a try, but I'd love to hear from you guys - what plants have given you good growth in high-flow tanks?

Water sprite is a good option, it does well in high flow tanks. I've also had success with duckweed, although I suspect your rainbows will make short work of it - which is a plus, as it's nutritious for them.

I'm leaning towards water sprite, seems like a good option. The duckweed idea doesn't quite work for me though, I think it'd just get tossed around by the current. Anyone else have any suggestions that might handle the flow in my tank?

I've got moderate flow in half my tank, works out okay for me. I'm growing water lettuce and water wisteria, both doing alright. Initially, I was a bit concerned the water lettuce would get battered by the current, but it's pretty resilient, bounces back up when it gets caught.

Water sprite seems to handle the flow from my canister pretty well, gets tossed around a bit but still does great.
