Lobophyllia attacking my chromis.

Just got into this hobby, and I'm already having some weird issues...
Woke up this morning to find one of my Blue/Green Chromis stuck to my Lobo, getting eaten alive! The poor guy's fins were still flapping, so I grabbed a turkey baster and squirted some water to free him. When he came out, the top half of his body was pretty much gone and he wasn't swimming right, so I put him down.
This is the second Chromi I've lost in about a week. A couple days ago, I had another one go missing, and later found just his head intact on the sand bottom. At the time, I thought he'd died of natural causes and maybe one of my emerald crabs had gotten to him, but now I'm wondering if the Lobo was responsible for that one too.
Do Chromis usually sleep near the sand, or is that just my tank? Maybe that's why they're getting caught?
