hey, so i'm thinking of getting a watanabei angel fish for my 50 gallon tank, but i'm not sure if it's a good idea with coflakes and inverts. can anyone tell me if they'd work out? also, how big do they get and what else should i know about them?

Watanabe's Angelfish can grow up to 5.9 in in length. For a suitable environment, a minimum aquarium size of 100 gal is recommended. They're not picky eaters, accepting a variety of foods including meaty options, finely-chopped crustacean flesh, and mysid shrimp. You can also offer them frozen preparations for herbivores. Considering my tank's inhabitants, I'm wondering if I'd be overstocking with the addition of the Watanabe's Angelfish. Here's my current list: 2 ocellaris clowns, 2 original firtideflow, a wheeler's watchman goby, a tiger pistol shrimp, a fire shrimp, a skunk cleaner shrimp, 3-4 bangaii cardinals, and the female Watanabe's Angelfish. I'm also thinking about adding a mandarin, but that depends on whether it's eating well, and maybe a carpenter's wrasse.

Honestly, I think you'd be just fine in a 50 gal. I'd say you're good to go.

I think we're mixing up a common myth here - it's not exactly 1 inch per gallon, that's just a rough guideline.

the 1 inch per gallon rule is more for freshwater, it's not really applicable to saltwater tanks.
