A betta with albinism

I just got an albino halfmoon doubletail male betta, and I'm curious about something. He's got those striking red eyes - I'm pretty sure he's blind, by the way. There's no pigment or iridescence on his body or fins. So, I was wondering: are albino bettas really that rare?

I've only seen a few albino bettas in my time, so I'd say they're pretty rare. Never heard of one with red eyes and no pigment or iridescence though, that's really unique.

I've come across white females with dark eyes, but never an albino male. What makes you think the red eyes mean he's blind?

I'm glad you're here. You've definitely got a unique find on your hands. I've never come across an albino betta before - what's the story behind this little guy, where did you pick him up?
