I've been noticing some really interesting Symphyllia brain corals lately, specifically Symphyllia agaricia. Their success rate in captivity has me curious. I've come across sites like Liveaquaria that describe them as easy to care for, but then I see threads on forums like this one where people are sharing their struggles with these corals. It seems like there's a disconnect between the two.

I'd love to hear about your experiences with Symphyllia brain corals - the good, the bad, and everything in between. If you have any success stories or lessons learned from failures, I'm all ears. Pictures would be great too, as I'm sure they'd help paint a clearer picture.

We've had a great experience with our Symphyllia, a large one at 10-12 inches, and it's proven to be very hardy. A few accidental frags were created when moving it, and those have done well too - they've been sold and the buyers have reported back with positive updates. Based on this limited experience, I'd say Liveaquaria's assessment is accurate.

I've had a similar experience with my Symphyllia, it was initially just a small larval settlement on a rock with some morphs, took a good 18 months to grow large enough for a proper ID. Since then, it's been moved multiple times through various tanks and has consistently thrived, I'd definitely categorize them as extremely hardy.
