I'm thinking of dipping salvinia in hydrogen peroxide to sanitize it. Would that be enough to kill the roots, or could I still be introducing pathogens into my tank?

I'd advise against it, they have a tendency to hold onto a lot of liquids, which could potentially introduce unwanted substances into your tank.

I'm not convinced rinsing would be sufficient, what if some of the peroxide is retained within the plant?

If you've got a QT tank, why not give it a go and quarantine them for a few weeks? Even after a rinse with tap water, the roots can still hold onto stuff.

No QT tank for me, sadly. I rinsed the plants thoroughly and added them to my tank. Given my LFS's great reputation and healthy fish, I'm fairly confident it'll be alright.
