I'm curious about something. I siphon water and detritus from my shrimp tank into a 1-gallon jug when I clean it. Then I use that water for my indoor plants. What happens to the planaria worms - do they survive in my potted plants, or do they need to be fully submerged to live?

They thrive in water environments, but aren't adapted to survive in soil for extended periods.
