Hi all, just joined.

Can anyone tell me for sure if I've got a male and female kribensis here?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure both of those kribensis are females.

I guess I'll have to separate them now. They're getting a bit aggressive with each other. Guess I'll be making a trip to another pet store to find a male. Thanks for the heads up!

Males usually have a pointy tail, that's a good way to tell.

As for your girls, keep the bigger one, the smaller one seems to have some deformities.

Thanks for the tip. The bigger one's got the nicer colours, I'll keep her. Off to find two males now.

I've got a possibly naive question - are those two fish actually the same species? The one on the left seems to match pics of female kribs, but the one on the right looks more like the female Pelvicachromis taeniatus 'Moliwe' on Seriously Fish.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed they are, but they do seem to be quite aggressive towards each other - the lip-locking isn't exactly a sign of friendship, is it? I just got back from my local pet store, and it looks like all their Kribs are females too - every single one has a rounded tail.

Found another one and I'm wondering if this could be the male. The front fins seem straight on this one, whereas the others have curved fins. The females don't appear to be bothering this one, which is interesting.

The larger fish in the last couple of pictures, I'm pretty sure that's a male.
