Xenia pulsing or not, is it normal?

My Xenia stopped pulsing a few days ago. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate. Tank is a 40 gallon with LED lighting, running for about a year. Anyone else had this happen? They were fine last week.

Xenia can stop pulsing for a few reasons. Check your flow first, they like moderate movement. Also, what's your salinity? I've seen them act weird if it's below 1.023. Temp stable around 78?

Mine did the same thing when I switched lights. What kind of LEDs are you using? If the spectrum changed, it might take them a bit to adjust. Give it a week before panicking.

Yo, my Xenia straight up quit pulsin' when I added a new wavemaker. Too much flow, had to dial it back. Maybe check if somethin's messin' with your current?

Flow's a big one. Also, any new tankmates? Sometimes fish nipping can stress them out.

Thanks for the tips. Flow's the same, salinity's at 1.025, temp's steady. No new fish. I'll keep an eye on them.

Xenia are weird like that. Sometimes they just stop for no obvious reason and start again. As long as they're not melting, I wouldn't stress.

True, but it's worth checking alk too. If it's swinging, they might react. What's your alk at?

My Xenia stopped pulsing when I dosed too much iodine. Are you supplementing anything? Could be a trace element thing.

Good point on iodine. Also, how often are you doing water changes? If it's been a while, a fresh batch might perk them up.
