My singapore coral beauty and angel fish.

hey, just got a singapore angel and i'm wondering if it'll thrive in my 30 gallon tank long-term? also, since the coflake beauty is already in there and they're both dwarf angelfish, will they eventually fight? right now they seem fine, no aggression or chasing, just cruising around and eating algae off the rocks. thanks!

Is the Singapore angel you're referring to actually a Chaetodontoplus mesoleucos? If that's the case, I gotta warn you, it's not a dwarf species - it'll grow up to 7 inches. Not exactly ideal for a 30-gallon tank. And if you've got a reef setup, I'd be concerned it might see your coflakes as a snack. Plus, as it gets bigger, I think you can expect some aggression towards the coflake beauty, especially in a smaller tank like yours.

I'm actually planning to upgrade to a 65 gallon tank soon, I did do my research before buying the Singapore angel.

I had a bicolor that was a bit of a LR nippy thing, and it'd also go after my coflake. 30 gallons just isn't gonna cut it for one dwarf angel, let alone two of them. If you wanna keep multiple dwarfs, you're looking at a massive tank - 150+ gallons, loaded with LR - to reduce fighting and give them their own space.

First off, bicolor angels are indeed the largest of the dwarfs, but my coflake beauty will max out at 3.9 inches. I'm upgrading to at least a 55 gallon soon, so space won't be an issue. I also introduced them at the same time to minimize aggression. So far, they've shown zero signs of aggression or stress towards each other. I've got about 40 pounds of live rock in there, so I think I've got this covered, thanks though.

I've got nearly 40 pounds of live rock in there, so thanks for the concern, but I think I've got this covered.

No way, 40 pounds is what I've got in there, Fluxx would probably agree 10 pounds is way too low.

Hi there, I think the Singapore and Coflake Beauty Angels will get along fine. The Singapore Angel is usually reef-safe and it's not uncommon for it to pick at waving corals, but it won't kill them, it just pecks at them every now and then. They shouldn't fight since they have very different shapes, so you'll be okay. However, you will need to upgrade to a bigger tank in a few months, keep an eye on the Singapore Angel, it's usually prone to getting flukes.

By the way, the Coflake Beauty is one of the reef-safe angels, 99.9% reef-safe, well most of them are, lol.
