Does eating and pooping mean a fish is happy?

I've noticed my Betta eats like crazy and poops a lot. Does that mean he's happy? He's in a 10 gallon tank with a sponge filter, temp at 78F, and I feed him pellets twice a day. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate.

Yo, if your fish is chowin' down and droppin' bombs, that's usually a good sign. But keep an eye on the poop color, weird colors can mean somethin's up. My Guppies do the same thing, and they're chill.

Lol, my Goldfish poops like it's his job. But seriously, if they're eating and pooping normally, it's probably fine. Unless the tank's a mess or the fish looks stressed. Mine's in a 20 gallon with a HOB filter, and he's cool.

Eating and pooping are basic signs of health, but they don't necessarily mean happiness. Check for other behaviors like exploring, flaring, or interacting with you. Your Betta's setup sounds solid, but make sure he's got plants or hides to feel secure.

Brown's good, man. If it's white or stringy, that's when you gotta worry. Also, how often you do water changes? I do 20% weekly in my 10 gallon, keeps things fresh.

My Goldfish's poop is like a dang rainbow sometimes, but he's fine. Maybe it's the flakes I feed him. You ever try fasting your Betta for a day? Might help if he's overeating.

Fasting once a week can prevent bloating and improve digestion. Also, consider adding variety like frozen bloodworms or daphnia. Your Betta will thank you.

Yeah, variety's key. I rotate between pellets, flakes, and frozen stuff. My Guppies go nuts for bloodworms. Just don't overdo it, or you'll mess with the water quality.

I'll try fasting him one day a week and add some bloodworms. Thanks for the tips, everyone. This forum's a lifesaver.
