I just adopted a yellow lab fish recently, and now I'm thinking of getting some more. What other cichlids would make good tankmates for them?

Lake Malawi cichlids are a good option, I've had success with them. I also have yellow labs and they do well with my frontosa cichlids.

Acei cichlids are pretty cool. They're generally peaceful, so they might get along with your yellow labs.

Just got this little one home - think I've got a female on my hands, right?

That's a female Lab you've got there. Pseudotropheus sp. "Acei" can work as tankmates, but I'd recommend a 1 male to 4 females ratio. I've had Ngara Acei in my tank and the females get harassed pretty regularly.

I've always found Acei to be pretty chill about their tankmate ratio, unlike some other Malawis. In my experience with 6 yellow tail Luwala, I've seen virtually no aggression. That being said, the key factors are really tank size and filtration - these will play a much bigger role in determining harmony among your cichlids.

I've got 2 males and 3 females in my tank, and the subordinate male is always getting left out - the dominant male gets all the attention. I feel a bit bad for him, to be honest. They're not overly aggressive or anything, just a bit of the usual cichlid hierarchy stuff. I wish I could add a few more females to give the sub-dominant male a bit of a chance, but with my tank being only 4ft, I'm already at my limit with the 5 I've got. I'll probably end up rehoming them once they get a bit bigger, unfortunately.
