Can frogspawn touch hammer coral?

I've got a Frogspawn and a Hammer in my 40-gallon tank, about 6 inches apart. They've been fine for months, but today I noticed their tentacles touching. Should I move one, or is it cool if they keep doing this?

Nah, dude, that's sketchy. Frogspawn and Hammers can get territorial real quick. I've seen mine go from chill to warzone in hours. If they're already touching, I'd scoot one over a bit, just to be safe. What's your flow like? High flow might keep 'em from going full battle mode.

Agree with Finleyt. They're both Euphyllia, but they don't always play nice. My Hammer stung my Frogspawn last year, and it took weeks to recover. Check for any retraction or tissue damage. If they look happy, maybe just monitor, but I'd lean toward separating them.

Yep, same here. My 75-gallon has two Hammers and a Frogspawn, and I keep them on opposite sides. Even with medium flow, they'll reach out and mess with each other. Better safe than sorry.

Mine touched once. The Frogspawn won. Hammer lost a head. Not worth the risk if you ask me.

I've had mixed results. Some Euphyllia are cool with each other, others aren't. Depends on the individual corals, honestly. What's your lighting like? Higher light might make them more aggressive.

Bro, just move 'em. Why risk it? My tank's a 50-gallon with Radion lights, and even then, I keep all my Euphyllia spaced out. They're like roommates who hate each other but pretend they don't until someone snaps.

I'd separate them. Even if they seem fine now, it's not worth the stress. Corals can be unpredictable, and you don't want to wake up to a melted Hammer.

Thanks, everyone. I'll move the Frogspawn tonight. Appreciate the advice!

Good call, man. Let us know how it goes. Also, what salt mix are you using? Some brands can affect coral aggression, weirdly enough.
