How to choose a Betta tank filter

I'm setting up a new 10-gallon tank for my betta and need advice on filters. I've heard strong currents can stress them out, but I also want good filtration. What's the best option for a gentle flow that still keeps the water clean?

Sponge filters are a solid choice for bettas. They provide gentle flow and excellent biological filtration. I've used the XYZ brand in my 10-gallon for months, and my fish seems happy. Just make sure to get an air pump with adjustable flow.

Yep, sponge filters are the way to go. They're cheap, easy to maintain, and won't mess with your betta's fins. Plus, they're great for beneficial bacteria. I've got one in my 5-gallon, and it's been chill.

I second this. Sponge filters are low-tech but effective. If you're worried about flow, you can always add a control valve to fine-tune it.

If you're considering a hang-on-back filter, go for one with adjustable flow like the ABC model. I've used it in my 10-gallon, and my betta doesn't seem stressed. Just baffle the output with a sponge or filter floss to soften the current.

I dunno, man. I tried a hang-on-back once, and my fish hated it. Sponge filters are way simpler and cheaper. No fuss, no sketchy currents. Just my two cents.

For a 10-gallon, a small internal filter might work too. I've had good luck with the DEF model. It's quiet, and the flow isn't too strong. Just make sure to rinse the media in tank water during water changes.

Totally agree. Sponge filters are beginner-friendly and reliable. Just don't forget to cycle the tank properly before adding your fish.
