Fish stocking list assistance

I'm setting up a 55 gallon planted tank and need help finalizing my stocking list. Aiming for a community setup with peaceful fish. So far I've got 10 Neon Tetras, 6 Corydoras, and a pair of German Blue Rams. Thinking of adding some top dwellers but not sure what would work best. Any suggestions?

Your list sounds solid so far. For top dwellers, consider a small school of Hatchetfish or some male Guppies. They're peaceful and won't bother your Rams. Just make sure your tank has a tight lid, Hatchets are known jumpers. How often are you planning water changes?

I'd skip the Guppies if you're going for a cohesive look. Hatchets are a better fit with the Tetras and Corys. Also, have you thought about adding a centerpiece fish like a Pearl Gourami? They're chill and won't mess with your other fish.

Guppies are a vibe though, especially if you get some fancy males. They add color and movement up top. Just don't mix them with aggressive fin nippers, but your stock list seems safe.

Pearl Gouramis are a great choice. They're hardy and get along with Rams. Just watch the tank size, 55 gallons should be fine for one.

If you wanna go wild, add a school of Chili Rasboras. Tiny but mighty colorful, and they won't bother anyone. Plus, they're like living confetti when they school. Just saying.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I'm leaning toward the Hatchetfish and maybe a Pearl Gourami. I do weekly 25% water changes, so that should keep things stable.

Hatchetfish are a solid pick. They're peaceful and add a unique shape to the tank. Just make sure your water params are stable, Rams can be picky about that.

Killifish are beautiful but often have shorter lifespans. If you're okay with that, they're a fun option. Just research their specific needs first.
