I just picked up a pair of pelvicachromis pulchers for my 15 gallon breeder, so I figured why not start a breeding journal. I've bred kribs before, multiple times actually, and it's always the same - sell the pair, then I'm itching for another one. I'll just be posting updates with pics and videos as things progress.

Update time, eggs have been laid. I'll be keeping an eye on them and will post updates as I go.

I'm sure you'll do great, given your experience with kribs. If I may ask, since you've had success in the past, do you have any tips for a newbie like me? My pair just had babies and they're out of the cave, with the parents taking turns watching them. I've usually just let things happen on their own, but I'd love to increase their chances of survival.

Sorry for the late reply. I've had some experience breeding kribs, and to be honest, there isn't much you can do to give them a helping hand. If you've got a separate breeding tank set up for them, just leave them be and keep the water changes regular. One thing you could try is hatching some brine shrimp for the fry - they love that stuff. There are some great vids on YouTube that show you how to set up a simple hatchery. Hope that helps.

Just a quick update with some more pics of the tank and my pulchers. They're doing great, and I'm expecting them to bring out their fry soon - probably tomorrow.

Update - Unfortunately, I lost the male, but the female and about 30 fry are still thriving. Here's a short video of the fry doing great despite the loss.

Krib fry are truly one of a kind, aren't they. Their growth rate is incredible. I must admit, I'm a bit envious - my wild caught apistogramma cacatuoides babies are growing at a snail's pace in comparison.

Your apistos are stunning. Looking forward to more updates and pics of them, especially since my own experience with kribs has been so great.

Just an update - I caught all the fry and put them in a breeding trap. Setting up a grow out tank tomorrow.
