is ro water really not nice?

hi there, just need some info on this...

i get RO water from my parents - our tap water has a pretty high 4.0 nitrite reading, but after the Reverse osmosis it drops to 0.1. my question is, is that 0.1 reading ok for my fish and inverts?

also, i got a 25 litre can of fresh spring water from a nearby farm and it tests at 0 for nitrites - is that a better option to use?

my tank's nitrite level is 0.1 and my ammonia is also 0.1, the booklet says that's fine for a tank with 27 degrees and a ph of 8.5, but i'm not so sure - i thought both should be 0? with my test kit, 0 should mean the test turns out completely white... but my nitrite test is showing a really faint pink colour, which i think means it's not completely nitrite-free...

any help would be great, thanks

I'd stick with the RO water, just make sure to change the membrane if the readings start going up. What's the TDS reading on it, by the way?

about 300, yeah its a new unit, only 3 weeks old... the fountain water from the local place has some kinda approval for being clean, i tested it and no nitrites show up, maybe i should just use that instead...
