My betta's been acting weird lately, kinda sluggish and not eating much. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 5 nitrate. Any home remedies to perk him up?

If your water's clean, try adding a bit of aquarium salt. It's a gentle way to boost their immune system. Just dissolve 1 teaspoon per gallon in a separate container before adding it to the tank. Also, make sure the temp's steady around 78–80°F.

Yep, salt's a solid move. I've also had luck with fasting mine for a day or two, then feeding crushed garlic. Sounds sketchy, but it's a natural appetite stimulant. Just smash a tiny piece and soak their pellets in the juice.

That's interesting! How often do you do the garlic thing?

Garlic can help, but don't overdo it. Once a week max. Also, check if your fish has any visible signs of illness like clamped fins or spots. If so, salt might not cut it, and you'll need meds.

Mine was like that last month. Raised the temp a bit and did daily 10% water changes. He perked up after a few days. Sometimes it's just stress from something minor.

Totally agree on the salt. I'd also dim the lights for a bit. Bettas can get stressed from too much brightness, especially if they're already feeling off.

Mine stopped eating once, turned out the filter flow was too strong. Slowed it down, and he was fine. Maybe check if yours is getting pushed around too much?

Thanks for all the tips, everyone. Gonna try the salt and garlic first. Lights are already dim, and the filter's on low, so hopefully it's nothing major.
