What's the best setup for water changes in a 75-gallon Discus tank? I've been using a Python no-spill system, but it's kinda slow. My fish are adults, around 6 inches, and I do 50% changes twice a week. Substrate is sand, and I've got a Fluval FX6 filter. Looking for something faster but still gentle on them.

I feel you on the Python being slow. I switched to a DIY setup with a pond pump and vinyl tubing. It's way quicker, just gotta be careful with the flow rate so you don't stress the fish. My Discus are in a 90-gallon with a canister filter, and I do 40% changes every 3 days. Works like a charm.

Yo, I just use a basic siphon and a couple buckets. Takes a bit longer, but it's cheap and gets the job done. My tank's only 55 gallons though, and I've got some younger Discus, about 3 inches. They don't seem to mind the slower process. Plus, I can spot-clean the sand while I'm at it.

That's a solid idea. What pump do you use? I'm worried about too much current, but if it's adjustable, I might give it a shot.

I'm using a Danner Mag-Drive 250. It's got adjustable flow, and I keep it on the lowest setting for water changes. My Discus are pretty chill with it, no signs of stress. Just make sure you've got a pre-filter sponge on the intake to avoid any accidents.

Man, all this fancy gear sounds great, but I'm too broke for that. I'll stick with my buckets for now. Maybe upgrade when my Discus get bigger and I can afford a bigger tank too. Right now, they're happy enough with the basics.

Thanks for the tips, everyone. I'll look into that pump setup. Appreciate the help!
