What are the key signs to look for in a healthy betta? My guy seems active but I wanna make sure I'm not missing anything subtle.

A healthy betta should have bright, vibrant colors, no frayed fins, and be active without darting erratically. Check their appetite too, they should eat eagerly. Also, clear eyes and no bloating are good signs.

I've noticed my betta flares his gills occasionally. Is that normal or a sign of stress? He's in a 5-gallon tank with a sponge filter, heated to 78°F.

Flaring can be normal, especially if they see their reflection or another fish. But if it's constant, might wanna check for stressors like bright lights or water quality.

My betta's fins look kinda ragged. Could it be fin rot? I do weekly water changes, 25%, with Seachem Prime.

Ragged fins could be fin rot or just tearing on decor. Check for white edges or redness. Maybe switch to silk plants if you've got plastic ones. And yeah, Prime's solid.

I'm so worried about my betta. He's not eating much today. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 5 nitrate. Temp's steady at 80°F.

Sometimes they just have off days. Try offering live food like brine shrimp to spark his appetite.

My betta loves to explore every inch of his tank. Is that a sign of good health? He's in a 10-gallon with some neon tetras.

Exploration's a great sign! Means he's curious and not stressed. Just watch the tetras don't nip his fins.
