Sera Med Nematol usage

Anyone got experience using Sera Med Nematol for discus? My tank's got a few fish scratching against rocks, and I'm thinking it might be parasites. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, nitrate at 10 ppm. Temp's steady at 86°F. Wanna know if this med's gonna mess with my biofilter or plants.

Used it before on my 75-gallon. Didn't crash the cycle but wiped out my snails. Dose it exactly as the bottle says, no shortcuts. Keep up with water changes, 25% every other day. Also, bump aeration, meds can lower O2.

Yep, second the aeration tip. Had a scare once when my discus started gasping. Also, if you've got shrimp, move 'em out. Sera Med Nematol nukes inverts hard.

How long did you run the treatment? My LFS said 5 days, but the box says 7. Tank's got Valisneria and Anubias, don't wanna fry 'em. Filter's a Fluval 407, if that matters.

Thanks for the heads-up on inverts. Gonna move my cherry shrimp to a holding tank. Any idea if this med stains silicone? Heard some meds leave a nasty tint.

Never used it. My discus just hide when sick. What's the active ingredient?

Ran it for 7 days like the box said. Valisneria was fine, but my Crypts melted a bit. Could've been the meds or the heat. Discus perked up by day 4 though.

Good to know. Gonna start tonight with a water change. You think carbon's necessary after, or just let it fade out?

I'd run carbon for 48 hours post-treatment. Helps clear any residual meds before your next dose or water change. Also, check your discus's poop. White stringy stuff means the med's working.
