I'm setting up a planted tank and wanna add fish that won't mess with my plants. Any suggestions? I've got Anubias, Java Fern, and some Crypts. Tank is 20 gallons, low tech, no CO2.

Otocinclus are great for planted tanks. They're peaceful and won't bother your plants. Just make sure you have enough biofilm or supplement with algae wafers. They do best in groups of 6 or more.

I've had success with Ember Tetras. They're small, colorful, and don't nibble on plants. They're also pretty chill with other tankmates. Just keep the water clean and they'll thrive.

Yo, what about guppies? They're colorful and easy to care for. I've got some in my planted tank and they don't mess with the plants at all.

Guppies can work, but some males might nip at tender plants. If you go that route, stick to hardy plants like the ones you already have. They're pretty forgiving.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I'll look into Otos and Ember Tetras. Any other fish that are plant-safe?

Celestial Pearl Danios are another good option. They're small, peaceful, and won't bother your plants. They do well in planted tanks with plenty of hiding spots.

You could also consider Endler's Livebearers. They're similar to guppies but less likely to nip at plants.

I've got some Cherry Barbs in my planted tank and they're totally chill. They don't mess with the plants and they're fun to watch. Just make sure you get a group of at least 6.

Honestly, most small tetras and rasboras are plant-safe. Just avoid anything labeled as a 'plant shredder' like Silver Dollars or some larger barbs. Stick to the small guys and you'll be fine.
