Anyone got experience keeping Congo tetras with kribs? Thinking of adding a pair to my 40 gallon but worried about aggression. Tank's got driftwood, some java fern, and sand substrate. Water's at 78F, pH around 7.0.

Kribs can be territorial, especially when breeding. Congo tetras are chill but might get bullied if the kribs decide to claim the whole tank. You gotta watch for nipping or stress signs. What's your filtration like?

I've kept them together before. The kribs were fine as long as the tetras had space to dart away. Mine had a bunch of floating plants to break sightlines. How many tetras you planning to add?

I'd say go for it if you're starting with young kribs. They're less likely to be aggressive if they grow up with the tetras. Just make sure there's enough hiding spots.

Congo tetras prefer slightly acidic water (pH 6.0-7.5), so your params are fine. Kribs are adaptable but may dig in the sand, which can uproot plants. If your java fern is anchored well, it should be okay. Monitor the tetras' fins for damage.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I've got a canister filter rated for 60 gallons, so filtration should be solid. Thinking of starting with 6 tetras and seeing how it goes.

Sounds like a plan. Just keep an eye on the kribs when they're spawning. They get real protective. Maybe add some more plants for cover.

Yo, my kribs straight up ignored my tetras. But my tank's packed with caves and plants. If your setup's bare, might be sketchy. Just sayin'.

I've seen kribs chase tetras before. Not sure if it's worth the risk.

Exactly. More decor means less aggression. Kaidoro, you got enough hiding spots or just the driftwood?
