I've been trying to grow Water Sprite in my 20-gallon tank but it keeps melting. The tank has a sponge filter, LED lighting for 8 hours a day, and the water temp is around 76°F. Any tips?

Water Sprite is pretty chill but it needs good light and nutrients. What's your substrate? If it's just gravel, you might wanna add root tabs or liquid ferts. Also, check your nitrates, they should be around 10-20 ppm.

Mine grows like crazy floating at the top. Maybe try that instead of planting it? Less hassle with the substrate and it gets all the light it needs.

I had the same issue until I switched to a finer substrate. Now it's thriving. Also, make sure your water isn't too soft. Water Sprite likes a bit of hardness.

Yep, floating is the way to go. My Water Sprite went nuts once I let it float. Just gotta trim it back now and then so it doesn't block all the light.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try floating it and see how it goes.

I second this. Floating Water Sprite is super low-maintenance and grows faster than planted.

What's your lighting schedule? If it's too intense or too long, it might be causing the melting. Try reducing it to 6 hours and see if that helps.

I've had success with both floating and planted. Just make sure the planted ones aren't buried too deep. The crown should be above the substrate.

Exactly. Nutrient deficiency is a common issue. I'd recommend Seachem Flourish for a quick boost.
