maintaining a cloudy marine tank

Hi all

Just setting up my tank, got 20kg of live rock in and it's made the water all cloudy. Filter's in place, pump's powered up, so should this clear up over the next week or two? Tank's 190l.

Will I need a skimmer to clear the water before I can introduce the fish?

yeah, it'll clear up - just a bunch of dead stuff, poop, sand, dust, that kind of thing. no need for a skimmer, but you do need to let the tank cycle before adding fish.

Cheers, I just chucked the live rock in from the box, is that how you're supposed to do it? Got a slimy film on the water surface now, should I siphon this off or just leave it?

Pointing a powerhead at the surface worked for me, might be worth a try.
