Best food for mushroom corals

What's the best food for mushroom corals? I've been using Reef Roids but they don't seem to respond much. Tank's a 40-gallon mixed reef, parameters are stable, 78F, 1.025 salinity. Lighting's AI Prime HD at 60%. They're not dying but not thriving either.

I've had good luck with frozen mysis shrimp. My mushrooms puff up like crazy after feeding. Just make sure to turn off the flow for a bit so the food settles. Also, try dosing amino acids if you're not already.

yo, reef roids are overrated. try some live phyto, my shrooms go nuts for it. cheap too, just grab a bottle from the lfs. tank's 30g, same setup as yours but with kessils.

How often are you feeding? Mine do best with small amounts daily rather than a big meal once a week. I use a mix of pellets and frozen, mostly brine shrimp.

Thanks, I'll grab some mysis next time I'm at the store. Do you thaw it first or just toss it in?

nah, don't toss it in frozen, that's sketchy. thaw it in tank water first, then use a pipette to target feed. my shrooms are picky but they'll take it if it's right in their face.

I've noticed mine prefer smaller particles. Ground-up pellets work better than whole ones. Maybe try crushing the Reef Roids finer?

Phyto's a solid choice, but it can dirty the tank fast. If you go that route, keep up with water changes. I alternate between phyto and oyster feast, seems to keep things balanced.

Definitely thaw it first. I use a shot glass with tank water, let it sit for 5 minutes. Cold food can stress them out, and it's easier to control the portion size.

also, check your flow. if it's too high, the food just blows past 'em. mine are in a low-flow spot and they catch way more grub that way.
