I've been trying to grow dwarf baby tears in my 10 gallon tank but they keep melting. I've got a Finnex planted+ light, CO2 injection, and Tropica substrate. What am I doing wrong?

Dwarf baby tears can be tricky. How's your CO2 levels? They need stable CO2 around 30 ppm. Also, check your light duration, 8 hours max to avoid algae. What's your fertilizer routine?

Mine melted too until I cranked the CO2. Now they're spreading like crazy. Also, try trimming the melters, sometimes they bounce back. Oh, and don't let the substrate dry out, they hate that.

Yep, CO2 is key. I run mine at 35 ppm and they're thriving. Also, make sure your nitrates aren't too low, aim for 10-20 ppm.

I had the same issue until I switched to EI dosing. Now my dwarf baby tears are carpeting nicely. Maybe your ferts are off? What's your dosing schedule like?

Thanks for the tips, everyone. I'll check my CO2 levels and adjust the light. I've been dosing Thrive twice a week, but maybe it's not enough.

Thrive should be fine, but test your nitrates to be sure. Also, how's your flow? They like a bit of movement to distribute nutrients.

Flow's a good point. I've got a small powerhead in my 10 gallon to keep things moving. Oh, and don't forget to check for hitchhikers, snails can mess with the roots.

Snails are the worst. I had to nuke my tank with no-planaria once. But yeah, flow and CO2 are the big ones. Keep us posted on how it goes.
