Hey everyone, sorry if I've posted this in the wrong section, still trying to get the hang of navigating the site.
I've got a fish that was sold to me as a peacock, but my friend thinks it's actually a hap - anyone able to help me out and identify the breed?

I'm leaning towards it being a hap, don't know if peacocks and haps can interbreed, possibly it's a cross between the two

Found out that it's actually a Taiwan reef cichlid, thanks for the input guys.

Aww, that's a really cool name, it's adorable. I'd recommend doing some research to see what its specific requirements are, just to make sure you can give it the best care.

Haps and Peacocks are pretty broad groups, not just single species.

Nice find, by the way. Would love to see more of your tank - what else you got in there with the Taiwan reef cichlid?

I'll get some more pics up for you tomorrow. Got a few more peacocks and haps in the tank, plus a couple parrots and L numbers plecos.
Still getting the hang of keeping haps and peacocks, but my mate's got me hooked - he's got a massive 1000l tank full of them and it's just incredible to watch them swim and feed.
