Hi Guys, I've been lurking around here for a bit, first time posting so apologies if I mess up.

I've had discus for almost a year now, but I'm having trouble figuring out their strains. I could take a guess, but I'd rather get expert opinions.

They're around 9 months old, some are about 10 inches long. Unfortunately, I have a few stunted ones - you might spot them in the pics.

I'm from Malaysia (Sarawak), so I'm guessing they're from Asia.

Alright Banger, let me take a closer look at those pictures of yours. I think I can help you identify some of the strains.

That first picture, the blue ones, I believe they're cobalt. And the spotted ones, if I'm not mistaken, the one in front is a leopard and the one at the back is a leopard snakeskin. That little red one in the reflection, I think it's a red cover.

Moving on to the second picture, I see a red melon, also known as pigeon blood, right in the middle. And at the bottom left, I'm pretty sure that's a blue diamond.

Now, I know you might be wondering what sets blue diamond apart from cobalt. Well, the main difference is that blue diamond doesn't have any black bars.

As for the spotted ones, the difference between a leopard and a leopard snakeskin is the number of bars. A leopard snakeskin has 14 bars, which makes the spots smaller. And I think I see that your leopard snakeskin has some golden genes, which is why the bars aren't visible. That's why it's sometimes called a golden leopard snakeskin, or even eruption.
