is compatibility an issue?

I've got a 55gl aquarium with Danios, Ghost Catfish, Bala Sharks, and Corydoras Catfish. Thinking of adding Electric Yellow Cichlids and some other Mbunas. Would my current stock be at risk? I'd imagine the Danios could handle themselves, but I'm not so sure about the others.

I gotta advise you, never mix Mbuna with anything but their own kind and maybe some catfish. They're super aggressive and will wreak havoc on your other fish. Those Bala Sharks, by the way, need a ton of space and should be in groups of at least six - they're not suited for your tank.

Thanks for the advice. Guess I'll have to find new homes for my Danios, Ghost Catfish, and Corydoras Catfish. Don't think the Bala Sharks are going anywhere anytime soon, they're pretty big now. Time to start looking for some Mbunas to stock my tank with.

Could try other rift lake cichlids too, could work out better for the 55G
Thanks for the advice. I'll look into that. I'm thinking of rehoming my current fish to make room for some Mbuna, but I might consider other options for my tank size.

Lake Tanganyika cichlids are generally smaller than Mbuna. You've got dwarf Mbuna species that stay around 3-4 inches, but overall, Tanganyika has more smaller species. I've seen some beautiful 55-gallon Mbuna setups, just thought I'd throw it out there - it's your tank, your choice.
