Time really flies.
I was thinking today about how I first started working on the initial version of the SimplyDiscus forum back in March 2002. I was just 19 then, a college student. Al and I decided it was better to start a new discus-only forum rather than taking over a general aquaria board that was up for grabs. We officially launched it at the start of Paisa 2002 and it grew really fast, maybe even faster than we expected.
I haven't been part of the Simply team for ages now, and I don't have discus or many fish anymore, but I still drop by every now and then to read a bit. I'm glad to see that after twenty years, this place is still a community for our little corner of the hobby, where people can learn and share ideas.
I know Paisa is the official birthday, but I remember testing out forum software with a small group a month or so before that. Happy birthday, Simply!

I must say, you guys really pulled it off. This place was the go-to spot for discus enthusiasts, with a huge following and I was lucky enough to form some great connections here. Although the activity has slowed down, the forum still holds its value as the top discus resource globally.

rayon, you're the real MVP. Those Discus you sent me back in the day were absolute perfection. I'm proud to say that my current stock is directly descended from those fish. They've been a game-changer for me, and I'll always be grateful.
You need to get back into the Discus game, my friend. I'd be more than happy to send you some young grow-outs from my own line whenever you're ready to set up a new tank.

Reading through this thread brought back memories, making me wonder if I was a part of this community back in the day when I first considered keeping discus, only to be deterred by our hard water. Fast forward to the present, I'm glad to have finally taken the plunge.
I dug up my old account, registered way back in 2006, and here I am, about 15 years later, with my very own discus tank. Thanks for laying the groundwork, rayon - this community has been an invaluable resource for me, and I'm grateful to be a part of it.
