A snail's unexpected visit to the car wash

My wife's really taken a shine to her big white Mystery snail in this tank, and I'll give it credit - it does a fantastic job cleaning up. However, bathing is a different story altogether, it's just not its thing. The Super Reds don't seem to be lending a hand, but the white long fin appears more than happy to pitch in. I recall the snail's shell used to be covered in green algae, but since we added the "hairy fairy", it's looking pretty clean now.

Snail spa day, courtesy of the white long fin. Fish, on the other hand, get a dine-in experience - Mobile Canteen has got them covered.

Taking a closer look at the snail shell closeup, I'm thinking the pH might be a tad lower than what the snail prefers, might need to consider relocating it to a tank with harder water, the shell doesn't seem to be deteriorating rapidly, it's been in a few soft water tanks already and we've had it for nearly two years now.

I'd suggest trying a mineral supplement for shrimps or a fruit flavored Thumbs on its path, see if that makes a difference.

My Mystery snail left a surprise gift - a clutch of eggs - last week, then vanished into thin air. Found her today, lying outside the tank, having somehow managed to escape despite the cover. Guess you could say she took a trip across the River Styx.

Styx was a parched landscape, it seems. I had a similar close call with my nerites, I was on a mission to find them for days, and finally discovered them grazing on algae under the access panel. Those little guys love to explore and will often venture out of the water if the humidity is high enough, like when there's a lid on the tank. But if there's no lid, they're not as adventurous and will stick to the water level.
