A betta's discolored face

I've had this betta in a 25-gallon community tank, but I pulled him out when I saw him hitting the wood and noticed some scale damage on his side. His head's usually a deep blue, but I've seen some light discoloration, which made me think it could be velvet, so I treated him with salt. After that, I saw ich on a couple of fish in the community tank, so I started him on Metroplex for good measure. The scale injury healed up in no time, and he looks pretty normal now - he's building bubble nests, eating okay. The only thing that's still bothering me is this light discoloration on his head, but it's not that golden color you get with velvet. Any ideas what's going on?

He's a stunner, that's for sure.
