Thanks for all the suggestions, loads to look at. We saw a leopard wrasse at the LFS and it's really nice - I'm a bit concerned about them being tricky to keep fed though and their long-term survival rate.
Despite my initial reservations about chromis, Lyn fell in love with them at the LFS - she ...

Re: local fish stocking information
I'm not too keen on chromis or damsels, so I'd rather avoid those if possible. A school of ghost cardinals, on the other hand, could be really interesting. I've also read that when it comes to mixing wrasses, it's generally okay as long as you choose ones that look quite different from each other.

local fish stocking information
Our tank's a Jewel Vision 450, roughly 100g UK, paired with a 75G sump, so around 50g water volume. It's 5ft long, 2ft high, and 2-2.5ft wide at the front.

Re: seahorse and their preferred perches
Hi,
What type of seahorses are you keeping? I think some macro algae would be perfect for hitching posts, like the ones stormer99 mentioned. They're easy to grow, help with water quality, and even boost pod populations.
I'd advise against using tree sponge or any coflake for that matter. The ...

Re: information on boxer shrimp
I came across these at my local fish store recently and thought they had a certain appeal to them. How's the experience been for you guys in terms of keeping them? Are they generally aggressive towards other inverts?

Re: is guppy a saltwater fish?
That's really interesting, I'd heard of Black Mollies being adaptable but not Neptunes. The thing is, would you even want to try it? It's one thing to know it's possible, but another to actually attempt it.

Re: is this a cleaner wrasse?
Totally on board with rileyon's take on cleaner wrasse - they're a nightmare to keep in captivity, and I mean, who needs that kind of stress, right? The feeding requirements alone would be a huge ask for a 140l tank, unless you're rocking some serious water treatment. That being said, I think the ...

Re: keeping coral beauty fish: experiences and advice
We've got one too, absolutely stunning. Never had any issues with our corals, just the usual softies and a few LPS. But the clownfish, oh boy, it's like they're sworn enemies or something, our royal gramma was the same, poor Nemo didn't stand a chance.

Re: When plants are thriving
I think you raise a valid point, bronze_shield, it's indeed challenging to gauge plant health due to the slow pace of changes. Sometimes, simply existing can be enough to know it's okay.

Re: missing a clown fish
Just found the little guy, he'd jumped out of the tank. Turns out there was a tiny gap in the eggcrate where I've got the skimmer, must've squeezed through there. Poor little fella. Guess that's a lesson learned - double-check your tank's covered, even if you think it's secure.
