Yeah, QT is a good time to fatten them up a bit before they have to compete for food in the main tank.

Yeah, 1.5 to 2 inches is the sweet spot. Any smaller, and they can get bullied in a community tank.

Yeah, egg yolk is sketchy. Too much risk of messing up your water params. Not worth it.

Yeah, brine shrimp are the way to go. I've tried other foods, but nothing gets them growing like live baby brine. Just make sure you rinse them well before feeding.

Try adding some tall plants like Amazon swords or valisneria. It gives them places to hide and feel secure, which can encourage pairing behavior.

I'd be more than happy with a tank like that. As mentioned earlier, filling out the far right corner with something thick and green like Hygro could make a big difference.
