Re: £15 for 10kg fine sand: Fair price?
That's a fair price if it's washed and aquarium-safe. Cheap sand can have silicates that mess with your water params. Check if it's pre-rinsed, and maybe test a small batch first. My 180L has had no issues with similar priced sand.

Re: is my betta overfed
If he's doing well due to fasting, you can skip the pea for now. Just try smaller portions and mix up his food. Three tiny pellets a day is plenty, but space them out. They love to eat, but don't give in to their begging.

Re: is my betta overfed
I'd recommend giving him a break from food for a couple of days. It's not gonna hurt him, I can attest to that. I often skip a day or two with my own betta, and it seems to really help with digestion.

Re: Danio care tips
Zebra Danios thrive at 64-75F, so 72F is fine. They're hardy but prefer cooler water. Feed them small amounts twice a day, like flakes or micro pellets. Overfeeding's a common mistake, so keep it light.

Re: Typical tetra behavior?
Neon Tetras are naturally a bit skittish, but excessive darting can mean stress. How's your lighting? Bright lights can freak them out. Also, check if the tank's near high-traffic areas. They're prey fish, so sudden movements spook them. Try adding more plants or driftwood to break sightlines and ...

Re: is my betta struggling with the water flow
I'm pretty confident this latest tweak has done the trick. We've got filtration going on, and the surface agitation and undertow are minimal. I switched off the tank light and quietly watched Phil. He swam all around his tank with ease, even right under the filter output flow, no problem. He looks ...

Re: is my betta struggling with the water flow
So I tried wrapping a piece of nylon around the intake tube screen, just like coltin suggested. I then took a water bottle, cut it in half, and used it to baffle the output flow, hoping it would dissipate the water more gently. Unfortunately, my Betta, Phil, still seems really stressed out when the ...

Re: is my betta struggling with the water flow
Aquaclear HOB filters are also adjustable, another option for you to consider. I'm curious, did you try modifying the Top Fin filter to reduce the flow? One thing that might help is placing a round sponge over the intake strainer. This can make a big difference in reducing the current. You could ...
