Re: setting up a gorgonian tank
No prob! Keep us posted on how it goes. And don't forget to test your magnesium levels too, they're often overlooked but super important for gorgs.

Re: setting up a gorgonian tank
Thinking about setting up a gorgonian tank but not sure where to start. Got a 40-gallon breeder, gonna run a protein skimmer and LED lights. Any tips on flow and placement?
You're on the right track with the skimmer. Gorgonians are filter feeders, so you'll need to dose phytoplankton regularly ...

Re: choosing a betta: male or female?
In terms of temperament, I don't think it makes a huge difference, especially if you're keeping it solo. Males are generally more colourful and can have those gorgeous long fins, but the downside is that those long fins can make swimming a bit tricky for them, and they're more prone to fin rot ...

I've got a 29 gallon with a mix of dwarf cichlids and Harlequin Rasboras. Using a sponge filter and a Nicrew light. Plants are doing okay, but the Anubias are slow growers.

Re: Having trouble with my aquarium tank
I completely agree that high tech and low tech tanks have different requirements, and I wasn't suggesting that a low tech tank needs the same level of flow as my tank. My point was simply that high flow and surface movement aren't inherently detrimental to plants or fish. That being said, I do think ...

Re: Having trouble with my aquarium tank
I'm not convinced CO2 injection is the solution to your problems. In my experience, it can actually cause more issues than it solves. With CO2, there's less room for error, and things can go wrong quickly. If your plants are already struggling, adding CO2 might just exacerbate the problems.

Re: Having trouble with my aquarium tank
I used to have the same concerns, but after making some adjustments, I noticed a significant improvement in my tank. I also inject CO2 and was worried about losing it, but I found that repositioning the filter outlet and adding a powerhead made a huge difference. I have my lights on for 7 hours a ...

Re: Having trouble with my aquarium tank
I had a similar issue in my 65-gallon tank recently, and it boiled down to water flow. The fertilizer nutrients just weren't being circulated effectively around the plants.
I've since adjusted the setup - the filter outlet is now a spray bar, and I've added a power head just beneath the water's ...

Re: Is cami doing well?
It seems like she's experiencing some discomfort, as evidenced by her tightly clamped fins. I'm wondering if there's been any recent additions to the tank that could be causing this.
