Still think bare bottom's safer. Less to go wrong. But if you're gonna do sand, listen to these guys. They know their stuff.

Bare bottom is best. Easy to clean. No waste stuck in sand. I tried sand once, had to vacuum every day. Too much work.

Never skimp on testing. Lost a tank once because I trusted a bad kit. Now I cross-check with two brands. My Discus are in a 125-gallon, and I use API for nitrates, Salifert for the rest.

Sand's a must for Corys. If your Discus are juvies, keep the tank bare-bottom till they're bigger. Adults handle substrate better. My group ignored the Corys completely after week one.

My discus are less aggressive when I feed them in a different spot each time. Tank is 50 gallons, 4 discus, no other fish. I use a HOB filter and keep the temp at 82F. Water changes every week.

Maybe the flow's too strong? My Discus hated high flow. I turned down the filter and they came out more.

Never tried methylene blue. My tank's 55 gallons, planted, temp at 82F. Eggs always get fuzzy. Gonna order some today. How often do you guys spawn your pairs?

If you're gonna go cheap, at least get a decent powerhead. The cheap ones burn out fast. I learned that the hard way.

Name those no-name corals and they might just surprise you with some added color.

Don't stress, just pull your media out of the filters and tanks. Let them sit in open air till the power's back on. The bacteria should stay alive, rather than being suffocated from lack of oxygen.
