Re: Is it worth the investment?

Thanks for all the input, everyone. I think I'll start saving up and keep an eye out for used equipment. The stability and plant growth benefits sound too good to pass up.

Is it worth the investment?

I've been thinking about upgrading my 20-gallon tank to a 55-gallon, but I'm not sure if it's worth the cost. The filter, heater, and substrate alone would set me back a few hundred bucks. Has anyone made a similar jump and noticed a big difference in fish health or plant growth?

Re: wild discus vs captive bred debate

Thanks for the input, everyone. Sounds like captive bred might be the way to go for me. I'll stick with my current setup and maybe try a few wild ones down the line if I feel like a challenge.

wild discus vs captive bred debate

I've been thinking about getting some wild discus, but I'm not sure if they're worth the extra hassle compared to captive bred. Anyone have experience with both? My tank's a 75 gallon, planted with driftwood, and I do 50% water changes weekly. Parameters are stable, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 5 nitrate ...
