I've had Java Moss and Java Fern in the same tank before. They coexisted fine, but the moss needed more trimming. If you're up for maintenance, both can work.

Java Moss also grows like crazy if you give it decent light and CO2. I trim mine every couple weeks to keep it from taking over. It's great for shrimp tanks too.

If you change your mind later, Java Fern's rhizome can be glued too. I used gel super glue on mine, and it stuck fine. Just don't overdo the glue, or it'll look sketchy.

Java Fern is my pick. It's slower growing but looks way more structured. I've got mine tied to driftwood in a 30 gallon with medium light, and it's thriving. Just don't bury the rhizome, or it'll rot.

I've had my 13.5 gallon saltwater tank up and running since June, and it's been doing great so far. I've got two small Ocelaris Clownfish, three blue leg hermit crabs, and two trochus snails in there, all of which are very active. I test and change the water weekly to keep everything healthy.

I agree, it's a classic case of polyp bailout. Too much flow or a lack of essential nutrients like cal, mg, or alk can cause it, and pH imbalance is another possibility. What dusked6 said about your SG being low also rings true, 1.026 is a better target for LPS.
