krib related query
To give you some background, I've got a pair of Kribs in one of my tanks that have just spawned their second batch of fry. I did ask on here a couple of times about removing the dither fish, as I was concerned the fry would get picked off, but I didn't get any response. So, I went ahead and removed ...

Re: are kribs paired for life or can they swap with my daughter?
I was keeping an eye on mine earlier and noticed they were all huddled together at one end, then I spotted a little stray at the other end - luckily they're on their own in the tank, or it would've been lunch.
The stray vanished into the rocks, but the group eventually made its way to that end, so ...

Re: are kribs paired for life or can they swap with my daughter?
I enjoyed reading your Krib update, Miles. It's great to hear how Big Bad Burt and Rosy have become a team. I checked on mine earlier and they're still going strong, mom and dad taking turns to keep an eye on the fry. It's amusing to see them being so cautious even though they're the only ones in ...

Re: are kribs paired for life or can they swap with my daughter?
Miles, I'm curious, are your Kribs in a single-species tank or with other fish?
I ask because I once made the mistake of separating my Kribs and putting them in a solitary tank. They spent all day hiding and only ventured out under the cover of darkness. I was advised that they require 'dither ...

Re: Kribs' behavior has changed
I've taken the plunge and moved the Kribs to a 90 Litre tank, as suggested, with 5 Danios as dither fish to keep them company. I made sure to transfer their coconut shell too, but when I inspected it, I noticed the eggs were no longer stuck to the inside roof - they were definitely there when I ...

Re: Kribs' behavior has changed
Your explanation makes sense in retrospect, as they were always out and about before the move, with the male keeping watch and chasing off any intruders. The female would also join in, sending other fish packing. I had them with Corys, Tetras, and a couple of smaller Kribs that got bullied away.
I ...

Kribs' behavior has changed
I've got a breeding pair of Kribs that were initially in a community tank. They spawned and I managed to rescue 8 fry, relocating them to a separate small tank. The breeding pair then joined their coconut shell, now home to over 30 eggs, in another small tank.
Now that they're alone, without any ...

Re: can kribs spawn again with fry?
I asked the same question at the LFS today and the guy there said they can spawn again even after having new fry. He mentioned they'll actually spawn a lot, but warned that after around the 4th time the female will be really exhausted. I'm wondering, is that when it's best to separate them?

can kribs spawn again with fry?
I've got a breeding pair of Kribs that spawned around 4-5 days ago, and now the female's belly looks really swollen and bright red again. Every time the male approaches, she curls up and he gets a bit aggressive, flaring his fins. Is it possible they'd spawn again so soon, or am I just seeing things?

Re: A female krib discussion
One of the missing Danio's turned up, no idea where it was hiding, and I found the other one stuck behind the filter. Possibly it was trying to get to the Krib's fry, they were pretty close by, or maybe it was just being nosy. Moved the filter and it swam out, so all accounted for now, but I'm ...
