krib related query

Post by coldheart »

To give you some background, I've got a pair of Kribs in one of my tanks that have just spawned their second batch of fry. I did ask on here a couple of times about removing the dither fish, as I was concerned the fry would get picked off, but I didn't get any response. So, I went ahead and removed them, leaving just the lone Hatchet fish as it seems pretty harmless and spends most of its time near the surface, possibly giving the Kribs a sense of security.

Now the Kribs and their 70+ fry are more or less on their own in a 100L tank with a few caves and live plants. At the moment, the fry are following their parents around and are only a few days old, so they're picking bits off the substrate. I'm being careful not to overfeed the adults.

My question is, when the fry get bigger - and there must be around 70 or more of them - when's the right time to rehome them? I've still got 8 of the first batch in a 20L tank, and they're doing well, but they're still pretty small at about 1/2" long. What size is best to rehome them at, before they become fish food for something larger?
