Re: Why Are My Corals Closing Up?

How's your phosphate level? High phosphates can cause issues, even if nitrates are low. Also, any chance of stray voltage in the tank? I've seen weird behavior from corals when a heater or pump was leaking current.

Re: is anyone experienced with identification?

I'm pretty sure the top one is a not yet fully colored Aulonocara stuartgranti "Ngara" or Ngara Flametail Peacock, seems to fit. The other two are likely Labidochromis Liongi, I've seen comparison pics and they match up pretty well. If that's the case, I've heard they can be pretty rowdy and might ...

Re: Cyphotilapia frontosa discussion

From my research and understanding, I've come to realize that Frontosas indeed grow to be quite large, requiring ample space for their needs. Although they aren't exactly the most active swimmers, their size demands a substantial tank.

Considering they thrive in groups, I'd recommend a tank that's ...

Re: A new aquarium tank

what's the filtration setup you're using on the rio 240, just wondering if it's the standard juwel equipment or if you've upgraded

Key point here, filtration is crucial. You can slightly overstock with Mbuna, but your filtration will be the deciding factor. Overfiltration means you'll still ...

Re: information on acei holding

Yeah, that's dad hiding in the top left. Guess he's done his part and now she's on her own. She seems a bit out of her element tonight, like she's not quite sure what to do with herself. Kind of reminds me of my ex when I was expecting - all a bit lost and confused.

Re: information on acei holding

I'm starting to think she's just messing with me, all that jaw action's got me cringing, feels like I'm the one with TMJ just watching her.

Re: information on acei holding

Got a great deal on a 30gal tank for the fry today, and I'm planning to make some DIY Sponge filters. Just need to find a suitable sponge material - I've found a good option, but the shipping costs are a bit steep. There's some denser foam at the craft store, but I'm not sure if it's the right stuff ...

Confirmed, she's definitely holding, can see the eggs in her mouth when she's gulping with that jaw full.
Tomorrow's the day for tank shopping - hitting up the second-hand stores and scouring Craig's list.

information on acei holding

Got a new batch of babies in my Cichlid tank, guess that makes three tanks now with young ones - the live bearers, Royal Farowella, and this one.

She's just 3.5" so likely her first spawn, fingers crossed it goes well for her. Not sure I can scrounge up another tank for the little ones, might just ...
