Re: sharing my 10-gallon plant setup

Betta and shrimp tanks are so fun. If your betta stays chill, you'll have a thriving shrimp colony in no time. What's your feeding routine like for them?

Re: sharing my 10-gallon plant setup

Rotala can be finicky without CO2, but it's doable. I'd recommend adding some floating plants to help with nutrient competition. Frogbit or Salvinia would work great in a 10-gallon. What's your photoperiod?

Re: fin rot diagnosis and treatment

UPDATE: It's gotten really bad, he's now practically lost his fin.

I've been adding aquarium salt with every water change, and I've also given esha2000 a try.

This is getting severe and it feels like time is running out.

All the water parameters still seem fine and I've managed to bring the pH ...

Re: fin rot diagnosis and treatment

Just got my hands on a liquid test kit, and I've run the tests. pH is reading 8, nitrite is still 0, and ammonia is a bit tricky to read due to the water opacity, but I'd say it's either 0 or 0.2, can't quite tell for sure.

I've taken out all the ornaments, so I don't think he's damaged his fins on anything. I've tried doing partial and full ...

Honestly, I've attempted to cycle them, but I'm not entirely confident I've done it right. I'll test the water now and keep you posted.

Re: fin rot diagnosis and treatment

I'm no expert, just got back into the hobby last year, but I'll try to help you out. A few questions to start - what kind of plants are in the tank? Have you run a water test recently, checking for nitrite, ammonia, pH, and double-checking the temp in that tank?

I've got a Java fern and what ...
