Re: breeding betta fish
To breed betta, start by keeping the male and females in separate tanks, but place them next to each other so they can see one another. This visual introduction should last for at least a week. If the male builds a bubble nest and puts on a display for the female, it's likely a good sign, and you ...

Re: changing substrate in an established aquarium
Do you have a filter in your tank?
If you do, just drain most of the water out and put it in a clean fish bucket with the fish and filter media. Tip the gravel out and put clean, washed sand in. Add the old water, fish, and filter. Top up with some clean dechlorinated water. Turn everything back ...

Re: Is a pundamilia compatible with a tropheus duboisi?
GH for Tropheus species needs to be at least 300ppm, same for most other Lake Tanganyikan fishes. Lake Malawi and Lake Victoria fish can get by with a lower GH, but even they need 250ppm+.

Re: Is a pundamilia compatible with a tropheus duboisi?
Considering the Pundamilia's requirements, I think its behavior could work out with your Tropheus, but its diet is where things get tricky. The food you're offering, mainly algea wafers, cichlid pellets, and vegetable flakes, isn't well-suited for a Pundamilia. They need meat-based foods, and it'd ...

Re: Is a pundamilia compatible with a tropheus duboisi?
Tropheus are from Lake Tanganyika, so they need hard water - we're talking GH above 350ppm and pH above 8.0. This isn't ideal for your bristlenose or rainbow sharks, though. If your water isn't hard enough, your Tropheus will struggle. But if it's hard enough for them, the other fish will suffer ...

Re: Is my betta suffering from a fungal infection?
If it's smooth like that, I'd say it's probably a cyst or blister. Adding a drop of medication to the area a couple times a day for a few days might do the trick. If that doesn't help, I'd carefully use a sterile needle to see what's going on. If fluid comes out, it's a cyst. If it's hard, it could ...

Re: Is my betta suffering from a fungal infection?
I took a closer look at your pictures, and the spot on your beta's dorsal fin appears smooth in the images. I'd like to know, though, does it seem fluffy or is it smooth to the touch?

Re: A black and white clown issue.
I'm a bit concerned - flukes don't usually double in size overnight, so I'm wondering if there's something else at play here. Any chance you could post a picture of the affected area? Also, I've read that clownfish are best kept in pairs, as separating them for too long can cause them to sex-reverse ...

Re: Is he bloated
A clear view of your betta's body would be really helpful. Try taking a photo with a dark background, like a piece of paper or card, behind the tank. That way, we can see if his scales are sticking out, which would be a sign of bloating.

Re: Is he bloated
If you could post a picture of the fish and plant, I'd be happy to take a look. However, I'm not keen on opening zip files due to the risk of viruses and other malware.
