Re: Do Bettas need hiding spots
Exactly. The goal is to reduce stress. Whether it's a cave, plants, or driftwood, as long as they have options to retreat, you're good. Just avoid overcrowding the tank with too many decorations.

Re: Do Bettas need hiding spots
Hiding spots are essential for their mental well-being. Bettas are territorial and need areas to retreat when they feel threatened. I recommend live plants like java fern or anubias, or even a small ceramic cave. Just make sure there are no sharp edges.

Re: Identifying hammer coral and possible bleaching
Honestly, I think they both resemble hammers. What's their placement in the tank - are they situated near the top or lower down? In my experience, they tend to thrive in lower light conditions and reduced flow.

Re: My coral beauty has developed whitespot
I'm relieved to see my coflake beauty's condition improving, with significantly fewer white spots visible today. The fact that no other fish appear to be affected is a positive sign, and I'm cautiously optimistic about the situation.

Re: My coral beauty has developed whitespot
Thanks for the advice guys. I appreciate the suggestions, but I really don't think I can catch the coflake beauty without tearing the whole tank apart, and that's just not an option for me. I've already picked up some Garlic Guard at lunch today, so I'll be starting that treatment and doing 10 ...

Re: My coral beauty has developed whitespot
Thanks for the info. I'm not holding my breath, though - no QT tank, so it's basically down to luck and regular water changes.
What are the chances of my coflake beauty making it through this? Only one fish has it so far, but I'm guessing the others are likely to get it too. Is it a death sentence ...

Re: My coral beauty has developed whitespot
They're just single spots dotted around, I'm pretty sure anyway - I've had a good look, but it's hard to get a proper view with all the rockwork and whatnot.

My coral beauty has developed whitespot
Just a heads up, my coflake beauty I got a couple of weeks ago has broken out with whitespot. No QT tank here and even if I did, catching the thing would be a nightmare with all the LR. Are there any reef-safe treatments I can try or ways to boost my other fish's chances? Got a UV, so hopefully that ...

Re: Bubble coral care and maintenance
It's making a comeback. I'd siphon that cyano off the skeleton when you see it. Keep us posted on progress.

Re: Bubble coral care and maintenance
I'd give it some shade, seems like it's struggling with the bright lights.
