Re: Discus tank plant fertilizer safe?
I've had bad luck with liquid ferts. Switched to root tabs and my Discus are way happier. Less algae too. Maybe worth a shot if you're seeing issues.

Re: Live plants vs. fake plants for Bettas
Fake plants are easier, but live ones are worth the effort. My betta loves swimming through the leaves, and it's way more fun to watch.

Re: discus tank gravel vs sand
I've had both, and sand is definitely better. Gravel traps too much gunk, and it's harder to keep the tank clean. My Discus are way more active on sand, too.

Mine looked skinny too until I started feeding more. Maybe try upping to three times a day?

Re: Discus tank water flow guide
I've got a 55 gallon with a canister filter, and my Discus hate strong flow. I angled the output toward the glass to break the current. Works pretty well.

Re: How much food for your fish?
I've got a 10-gallon with a single Betta. I feed him 3 pellets in the morning and 2 at night. He's thriving, and the water stays pristine. Consistency is key.

Re: Discus egg fungus prevention
Beef heart's messy though. I use frozen bloodworms, less gunk in the tank. My pair's in a 50 gallon, HOB filter, spawns every month. Still get some fungus, but less with methylene blue.

Re: my discus has a bloated belly
Mine did that once after overfeeding. Cut back on the beef heart, it's rich stuff. Maybe skip a feeding or two and see if it helps.

Re: Two-inch Bully
I've encountered similar issues with my discus, although not to this extent. It's not uncommon for discus to exhibit aggressive behavior, especially among siblings. I'd consider isolating the bully in a separate tank or, if that's not feasible, use a tank separator to keep them apart. This way, you ...
