Re: Planning a fish relocation
Thanks, everyone. This is super helpful. I'll definitely label the bags and grab a Styrofoam box. Appreciate the advice!

Re: Planning a fish relocation
About two hours. Thanks for the filter media tip—I hadn't thought of that. Should I fast the fish the day before?

Planning a fish relocation
I'm moving next month and need to relocate my 55-gallon community tank. It's got a mix of Tetras, Corydoras, and a pair of Angelfish. Any tips on minimizing stress during the move? I've got a battery-powered air pump and insulated bags, but I'm worried about temperature swings.

Re: encouraging growth in Acropora
7.5 dKH is on the low side for Acros. Try raising it slowly to 8.5. Also, check your nitrate levels. A little nitrate (5-10 ppm) can actually help with growth, contrary to old-school thinking.

Re: encouraging growth in Acropora
Acros can be picky. What's your alk and calcium sitting at? I've found keeping alk around 8-9 dKH and calcium at 420-450 ppm works best. Also, how's your flow? They need random, turbulent movement to thrive.

Re: about dwarf angels
I've got a flame angel in my 45g, it's with 2 juvi percs and a royal gramma. So far it's been fine with the other fish, no issues there. I don't have coflake in this tank but it's always pecking at my live rock. Had it for a bit now, seems pretty hardy to me.

Re: Fish stressing torch corals
He's been spared by a faulty trap about 5 times already, I'll follow up once he's gone and the issue either persists or resolves.

Re: Fish stressing torch corals
My personal experience with Magnificents is they're notorious nippers - they'll mow down anything in their path. I've got one that's recently started nipping on a welso and it's getting the boot this weekend. The last one I had took out a large frogspawn, so I'm done with them. No more Foxfaces ...

Fish stressing torch corals
I've been having some weird issues with torch heads deteriorating rapidly and I'm stumped about the cause. A buddy of mine joked it's like a fish is doing it because of how quickly they're dying off. I've had a pretty diverse mix of fish, so I thought I'd run my list by you guys to see if anything ...

Marine wrasse compatibility
I've got a few fish in my tank, including a couple of percs, a royal gramma, and a flame angel, all pretty small, around 1.5" for the first three and 2.5" for the angel. I'm looking to add some color, blues, greens, pinks, and I thought a 6 line wrasse could be a great addition. I'm a bit concerned ...
